An Energy Harvesting Design of Wireless Sensor Networks, Funded by ERS Thai-German Seed Fund Projects, RWTH Aachen (01.01.2017 - 01.01.2018)

The importance of the energy harvesting design of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and the technologies that make it possible are growing in the recent years. Furthermore, the signal processing techniques for an optimal connectivity and power consumption management are facilitating their practical implementation. Thus, in future systems, the effective lifetime of the network will be extended and the quality of data acquisition will be greatly enhanced. In addition to the differences between the WSNs and other communication networks in the physical layer, the design of other networking layers can be different. This means that for each individual WSN, a unique design is required for an optimum performance. This project minimized the detection delay in a binary wireless network, which is employed to observe independent targets, while a fair energy consumption among the nodes is guaranteed.
